I have found that shooting gulls is much easier if they are being fed. If I am alone, I position the camera, (Usually from car window) throw out the food and begin snapping as they come in to feed. This photo I was lucky, the boy and his family were feeding the gulls, all I had to do was snap like crazy! lol

I can see where you got the title, Laura! The birds are really sharp!

Thank you Laura.....The problem I am having is the fact that I cant get close enough lol.....So that did help me! And the fact that you shot 30 to get one is a great comfort too! :)
Thanks Laura!

I guess they are ganging up on him! Amazing how much these guys can wolf down. He doesn't look the slightest bit concerned. Good one!

Thank you Paul, you flatter me with that "very advanced" comment. I set the camera on the creative mode, was about 20 feet from the subject. Using the zoom is what creates the shallow DOF. I trash about 30 shots for every one I am able to use. So my advice, is keep on clicking! lol

Paul....How close were to the subject on this shot if I may ask?
A lovely capture and beautifully processed.
I just keep thinking Im doing something awfully wrong with my nature shots! Im not getting anywhere as good as many others are able to get.
Even when Im noticing that Im using just the same focal lengh lens and camera ect. Sometimes Im see better stuff with less than even what I have. Would love to get some tips that would help make my nature shots better. I know you are quite advanced so am hoping you could maybe help me out alittle.
again wonderful capture!

congrats

Paul

I like the way that you have focused this, Laura. The birds are so clear. You stopped the action nicely. This does bring to mind The Birds...which makes it a little scary!
