Hi, Collin. I updated to the Pro version as soon as it came out (before it, if you count the fact I got the beta version). Alas, I have not proven the HDR stitching capability--no time. I am also fascinated by the latest addition to PTgui, which is the ability to correctly orientate a zenith shot taken from way to the side of the actual zenith (i.e., some way away from directly under where the panorama was actually taken). This has the cool effect of eliminating feet, both human and tripods', that would otherwise appear in the image.

Hi Roger, just wondering if you have tried the new PTGUI PRO? I am tempted to spend the 79euro to upgrade for the ability to stitch HDR panoramas.
Regards,
Collin.

Hey Collin:

Let me know if you want to try out some stitching of panos. I've recently typed up some information for Tim Schumm.

I'd recommend you download Autostitch for free off the web and start there. It's a brilliant package and does everything you could ever want.

Never in Photoshop! It is not designed for this and is barely capable of it. You need software designed for the task. There is excellent software for both PCs and MACs at very modest cost. There has been some discussion of this in the Panorama topic on Usefilm. Agree with your over Marcus. Fantastic talent.

I am fond of this style, though my wife prefers my shots in lanscape orientation. Panoramas is something I am yet to try, I presume you stich a series of photos together in photoshop? Do you need a special tripod head? Yes I have seen Patrick's site, fantastic! Another favorite of mine is Marc Adamus, very talented and very lucky to make a successfiul career in landscape photography.

I see you favour the portrait orientation with your wide-angle shots. That's something we have in common. I even shoot a high proportion of vertial panoramas! Wish I could visit this coastline... Have you visited Patrick de Fruschia's lovely photos? I think they would strike a chord with you; very similar approach including the use of grad ND filters.

Very nice Colin. Interesting fg and the cloud colours add to it. I see we use the same camera. Good shot. John

Thanks Peta, I just wish I had more time to spend with my camera and the outdoors. I really enjoyed looking through your portfolio.

Hi Gary, thanks for commenting I'll seee what it looks like cropped. I have taken others in the past on film where the water was the subject but to emphasise this I took them later and with full frame ND filters to expose over a minute to really get that silky look. I had a look at your portfolio, there are some great images, you live in a beautiful part of the world.
Cheers,
Collin.

Oh I believe it Collin. I was getting all manner of colours within minutes of each sunset shot I took while in Brissy.

You've done a spectacular job with this one. I tend to agree with Gary about cropping the composition at the waterline. In this scene, the water movement/rocks should definitely have center stage.

Great capture and nice post work.
Cheers
Rina

i think this would maybe be a "more interesting" picture if you were to cut off everything above the waterline and just focus in on the movement of the water. To me that is where the interest is, not in the sunset. Just my opinion. Good capture. Cheers, Gary
