About Our niece again. This summer (once upon a time when we had some sunshine!) my husband gave her her first swim lesson. I, of course, was snapping photos! :o)

Well... not exactly a photography professional. I provide website design services to small businesses which at times will call for commercial photography (products, equipment, locations, staff etc...) Not a very stable enterprise these days, but it pays the bills :) However, the cricket team photos and their website, I do solely for love! Hubby's on the team you see... :)) One Day cricket is exactly that - an entire day - which is why I end up with so many images. The boys (old men in reality) get such a morale boost from seeing themselves on the website, so I'd like to do it right. You never know though... enough practise and I just may get into sports photography professionally one day!!

Phew! Think I've chewed your ear long enough. Certain there was probably a MUCH shorter reply to your question than this!! :))

Forgive me for not commenting on your work lately Susie, I come here often and 'ooh' and 'ah' over your consistently charming photos, and then am lost for words after reading so many all-encompassing comments!
Well, as you know, I love the partial face shots as well...you did a really good job here! The pink of her cheek and the droplets rolling down it are important. The whole shot - wonderful!

Best regards,
Nadia

Wow Rina, I didn't know you were a professional. Do you work for a certain team or freelance? That's exciting stuff!

Wonderful close-up and excellent crop too. I think I see you reflected in her eye!!! :)) Nice work on the focus Susie. Definitely a great post by you.

Cheers and thanks so much for stopping by "Stumped". Your suggestions and advice are always appreciated. I use PS for editing, but I loathe to do too much post work on the sports shots. I take about 200+ images when I'm out there and roughly 25% will end up on their website!... that's a lotta work... :))

Nice bold crop Susie,
I love the wet face and hair. I think it is always a challenge when doing portraits to come up with something a little different. You seem to recognize this. Attractive framing too!

Hi Ina. She loves her photos. And so does her mom and her grandparents (my brother and his wife). It's so fun to take photos of such a sweetie and then be able to share them and see others enjoying them so much. It's the thing I love so much about photography. That and the fact that Kathy and I have so much fun learning together.

Great eye focus on your niece, Susie! Despite the partial face we see, there is so much to look at and the clues keep adding up: the wet hair strand, the wet eyebrow, and the drop of water on the rosy cheek. Fantastic blue color(s) in the eye! Great composition, and superb DOF, as usual! I love it! Ina
PS - How does she like her pictures?

Gosh, that look is so unmistakeable. And someone like me who loves the water, I know the feeling. It's interesting how we can pick up little visual cues, especially from one eye, a bit of the cheek, a wrinkle in the corners of the eyes, and tell if they're smiling or frowning.

Stunning shot Susie - amazing how happiness can shine through just a part of the face like that. Great positioning for your reflection and I like the softness to the features. Excellent.

Hmmmm....my comment didn't show up that I left for this before....it should have been right after Ann's??!!
Trying again!!

I like the sharp focus....honestly doesn't get any better! The expression that you captured so well with just her one eye is amazing, too. So full of joy...you can really feel that from her!! Love it, Susie!

Nice to see ones eyes light up and this is truley the capture that is portrayed here. Nice focus. How do you get such curly eyelases when they are wet. Ahhhh.... to be young again.

Oh yeah she has that hyped look in her eye like "I can do it. I know I can swim". Oh I love how you can see the reflection of water in her eyes. You've really captured the moment here Susie. Great work and very creative style. Top job.

Cheers - Ann :)
