Hugo thanks for your great critique. I actually was standing on the side of the road. I think the illusion of the higher vantage point comes from the downward slope of the road.

Hi Jim, I do like the presentation and framing of this photo. It works well, and I can see it printed out and put up on a wall. Those autumn tones are just fantastic! I also like the classic layout of this shot, using the bend in the road to consize the view, keeping the viewers' attention where it belongs: the trees and detailed autumn forest. The background, and specifically the shade of blue in the background creates a bit of a contrast, and although I generally like that in a photo, I also think it removes part of the potentially lush and pleasant atmosphere. It creates the impression of a rather crisp, cold day, rather overcast and rainy. Another thing that surprises me here is the point of view; it's quite high, and seems to be taken from the roof of your car. Interesting touch, it takes the road side shot out of itl's usual perspective. Very interesting / intriguing photo...

Never can resist a nice road shot. They always make me want to follow the road to see where it goes. The fall colours in this image are stunning. Very eye catching. I love the layered hills in the distance. Super details thorughout and wonderful clarity as usual. Very pleasing to view.
