From my first roll of Velvia. Inspired by some of the photos on this website, I decided to drag myself out of bed early one Saturday morning to try this film at sunrise. Not all that original, but a good learning experience.
It took me quite a while to get the scan to look like the slide. This is fairly close, although the scan is still a little soft and dark.
Thanks for the comments. Bryce, I did use an ND grad filter for this shot (2 stop, I think). Unfortunately I only have a screw-mount filter though, so I had to place the horizon in the middle of the frame. I agree, a crop would definitely help with this.
nice shot chris! yeah a crop would take out the horizen being in the middle thus adding to overall composition, but this is stilla pretty cool shot :) did you iuse any filters? cause the exposure is niiiceee
I'm a sucker for sunsets/sunrises (depends which coast you are on, I supppose). Good colors, exposure. I like the blur in the water created by the longish exposure. The only thing I would suggest is zooming in a bit/cropping to eliminate the dark clouds at the top of the picture. The rocks in the foreground work for me.
