Dear Rafi. It was nice to hear that you are involved with abandonned cats.
I do not live in Miami, but in Boston. Where it is very cold. My experience has been as I've described. I am very glad to hear that it is different in Tel Aviv.
I do know of a place in Ottawa, Canada where an architect built cat condos. Some of the cats are not afraid of people. There is a mail box on the gate where tourists and other like-minded people leave donations.
There is always warm human beings willing to help out.
Love the Ginger story. :) Andree

Dear Andree, The fate of feral cats is usually (not always, though) much better than in your description. There are many feeding stations in Tel Aviv, I personally take care of such a station in co-operation with other neighbors, the cats recognize me, are friendly to me. The weather here is mostly not too cold, much like that of Miami (I've been there in 2000.) Our own cat, or rather the cat who owns us, Ginger, was picked up, a sick, almost dying kitten from the streets and now she proudly rules our home. I also have a technique of approaching stranger cats on the street. I slowly approach them, invite them to smell my hand and more often than not they become friendly, allow me to stroke them to our mutual delight. Best regards, Rafi

Hello Rafi. Just read your comment today and I thank you for your visit to my portfolio.
A feral cat is a cat born on the street without the kindness or touch of a human being. A feral cat is wild and cannot be approached. He/she will usually live a short life scrounging up food from garbage cans or feeding at food stations tended by caring human beings.
Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year. :) Andree

Meeting a new UF friend, (alway a pleasure) I usually try to comment on the latest photo that friend posted, as it often represents his (in your case her, Ms. Lerat) attitude towards art & photography in particular. I found this half-painting-half-photo very intriguing, which does not distract from the other creations you posted. Having read your bio & found out your artistic background, I attributed even greater value to your very kind comment on my photo. I also entered your web-page & found, among other things, a Hebrew ad I could actually read & understand. You are, of course, invited to read my bio & pay further visits to my portfolio. In the meantime I thank you for your very kind comment on my "In hiding." Best regards, Dr. Rafael (Rafi for future communications) Springmann Although I can assure you that the cat in my photo was a regular street cat, kindly explain to me the meaning of "feral cat."

This is very clever, the way the person blends into the image behind and mirrors the pose. The splash of sunlight adds to the deception. John

I love the combination of paint and photo, as you know! Normally I do not like flash, but here the flash actually helps to blend the model into the painting, because the light is the same, coming from the right, throwing shadows to the left...! Huub
