This shot was taken at max zoom, so i was really surprised when i realized that i had captured the gaze of two of the children. This was in a small village in the Congo and the women of the village were putting on a traditional tribal performance for us. There were hundreds of children crowded around the area, like these three, but they were mainly gazing upon the strange Americans....like myself.
It is splendid, of course, and the cropping does help concentrate the composition. Surprises like this are one of the great rewards of photography. Thanks for the good work . . .
Thanks for the tip Scott... I think you are definitely right. I cropped it a little and it easily took away the distraction that the background was creating. Thanks so much for your input!
Marie, Wonderful photo! I love how you got down on their level to take the shot. I find that my eyes are drawn to the background at the top, and I wonder if cropping the top a little would keep the focus on the children. Great job.
