Yes, late March '97 here also. You have a great image Roberto. I wanted a long exposure using slow film and only the comet. I have no landscape around here to make a photo like yours. Well done.

Thank you so much Roberto, man of many awards. I was not going to let this comet beat me....... I just had to get at least one good photo. It took quite a while to get this long exposure figured out, but I was so glad that I spent the time that I did to nail it. Ha ha! Hale Bopp, I won this round! ;)
Chances of another like this are surely quite slim, so I actually felt very lucky just witnessing Hale Bopp. Capturing it was a bonus. It was so neat to just see it in the sky each night for so long.

Thank you jacques. You are a lucky man. My work has been very slow. I was fortunate years ago to afford those lenses. Please, when you get those lenses, take a photo of some gasoline and send me a copy so can take a drive to my favorite fog laden hills. ;)

Thank you all so much for the nice comments. If I didn't show them here, they would just sit in a drawer............. and we wouldn't want that now, would we. ;)

WOW!, sos astrónomo?, sé que estas fotos son muy difíciles de tomar, que llevan mucho tiempo de exposición e instrumentos ópticos de gran alcance. Como las haces?.
Un abrazo!

Great shot. One of the better I have seen. The L glass is well worth the price for this kind of quality shot even with the conversions that make it even harder to compare to your prints. Well done and have enjoyed much of your galactic events. be well, Stan

Thank you, you put a smile on my face Mutlu. Each has their own merits, but his one was what I was striving for the entire time. Getting round stars instead of streaks with my goofy home made setup was my goal. To me capturing this image was as difficult an endeavor as shooting hand held at two seconds using 300mm lens and hoping for a good result. I like all three , but personally for me, this one has a special meaning.
