About This is an experiment with PT Lens, a PS Plug-in which allows one to perform corrections to lens distortion. I used it here try to correct this image I took of Michelangelo's ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. My position was terrible, and I'm posting the original for interest. No flash of course. 1/8th sec - f 5.3 - 90mm.

Yah Keith - having shot a bazillion pics while in the Vatican Museum en route to this unimaginable place, I was shouted at to STOP, the moment I entered the Chapel. Understandable, I thought, given that it's a place of worship. Oddly, everyone can shoot away inside the basilica itself with no worries whatsoever, so I was slightly unnerved. BUT as I got further into the Chapel, I saw point-and-shoot cams flashing away and thought: bugger this...eat me!

Regards,

Anthony

Worked well, and you did well to get any shot in there with so many people watching

It's true that an awful lot of cleaning has been done on this masterpiece (and you can imagine what absolute care went into THAT - I'd have been on the edge of a breakdown had I been in charge of this project).

The new, vibrant, colours of the ceiling which have been revealed (and has its detractors) contrast starkly with the dimmer presentation which many have been used to seeing for decades - even three or four centuries with candle smoke and whatnot. It's hard to know whether I got it right here.

I am grateful to you all for commenting! And YES Nick, I was awed indeed. I love Renaissance art too!

Regards,

Anthony
