Wow - it's an impressive subject. I've never seen such a wide tree before!
I like the way you've composed the photo, with branches and roots leading the eye from each corner towards the subject. Nicely done.

This is an example of B&W with some more contrast. Your orignal color image with some more contrast looks better than the first.

This could be a nice photo, but I think you should convert it to B&W and make it a little sharper and increase the contrast. In color it is a little flat imo. Trees like this are nice subjects for B&W!
