Shahram posted an image of penguins from the Image Bank, a photo agency. I deleted that comment and image because it is not appropriate to post images belonging to someone else without their express permission to do so.

I posted it just as an example ( I left the watermark) to better expaling what I'm looking for and get my point across.

why are you here and not at a stock agency? unless of course you can't afford to pay the rates required....

You guessed right. Price is one reason. I also like a lot of the photos I've seen on this forum and I know there are a lot of talented people on here who may be able to help me.

Shahram:
I know you meant no harm in posting the image of penguins, but I just wanted to try to make you understand that it is not appropriate to use someone else's image without their permission. If you take the time to look at the fine print on the web site at Getty, where you found the penguin photo, you would find that they are very restrictive on uses other than those purchased from them. Copyright issues are very important to stock agencies and most will aggressively pursue any copyright violations of images they represent.

where are the images going to run? how big will they be? how long will they run? web site usage? all of those play a factor in price. i'm not sure of the ratio of advanced amateurs/hobbyists to professionals on this site but as a professional, i sincerely hope you do not try to pull a fast one on someone.
for those you that may be considering shahram's offer, please do your research and get a handle on what the rates are for editorial usage based on the answers to my questions above.

Thank you very much Andrej. I really like your photos but I couldn't see any that fall within the categories we are looking for. I appreciate your offer.

No body here is trying to "pull a fast one on someone". I have a lot of respect for those on this board as I'm a hobbyist myself and wanted to get some help and advice.
The images I'm looking for will be used in a print advertising as mentioned in a high-tech magazine, each image will be in a separate monthly issue and I'm looking for a 300 DPI with 5x7" in print size for the image. I hope this answers all of your questions.

no worries shahram. just keeping a lookout is all. ;)
to really get an accurate rate estimate, the name and circulation numbers of the magazine are needed. will the image be run double page, full page, 1/2 or 1/4 page?

According to the website information on "Compound Semiconductor" it costs $6342 to place a half-page ad in the magazine one time. Now, a normal use fee for a photo for that placement ranges from about $450 to $550, based on a Trade Magazine with a circulation of 9000.

Hi Shahram,
If it is for semiconductors I do think I have something on my portfolio.
However, if you find something you can use it! I just like to recieve a copy of the publication and maybe my name in a descrete small font somewere in a corner.

Hi Kurt,
Thanks a lot for your offer. Where can I see your images? Do you have a Web site? Of course I can send you a copy of the publication and we can mention your name on the photo as well.
I appreciate your help, Shahram :)
