that's difficult, if you slower the shutter speed it will become lines, i think in this situation, you have to wait untill the rain ends :)

Very simple. Carry and use an umbrella. It's possible to mount a tripod(which you should be using in the rain)with a large clamp sold at major home improvement stores.
Anothre way is to hold or have someone hold a large piece of cardboard or some device over your lens while shooting. It's a good idea to cover your camera also if shooting in the rain. A ladies shower cap will do just fine.
I've shot pictures in the rain and haven't had a single probblem, except maybe wet feet, and lower pants legs. That can be fixed by wearing galoshes, and rain pants.
You want to keep dry? So does your camera.
Now get your umbrella (golf umbrella, they are larger), a nice large clamp or two, and go back out and shoot some more waterfalls or whatever.

Thank you for your thoughts. Unfortunately, my camera is a standard digital and does not allow me to control shutter speed. Maybe my next camera--digital SLR. :-)

Good ideas, thank you! I live in PNW, so using an umbrella should probably just be SOP.

Whats PNW? Doesn't make any difference where you live, it rains just about anyplace photographers go, just when you aren't expecting it.
Good shooting, and keep yourself and your camera both dry. You'll both appreciate it.

PNW == Pacific NorthWest. Usually used to mean Oregon and Washington state, sometimes adding Idaho as well. One of the wettest parts of the USA, famous for its rainfall and waterfalls :)
