  Q. Shooting at the exhibition

Asked by Ut Say    (K=62) on 3/19/2004
This is to (indirectly) answer a question from a dear friend, sharing a trick that I use and hopefully spark new ideas from others for me to learn as well.

I posted a picture which I took at an orchid show around a week ago; and here is an excerpt from the comment, forming the question: "From my own experience I know how difficult it is to take pictures at an exposition. All around, behind and in front there are people and mostly you only can find bad lights. Capturing a fitting background is almost impossible....".

I use this trick to create the background. In my camera backpack, I have a sun-shade collapsible screen. The sun-shade is a screen that you put on the dashboard of your car in the hot day to keep the car interior cool. It's small enough to hold with one hand, and the other free to push the shutter button taking the picture. So, I mount the camera on the tripod, on one hand I hold the sun-shade positioned behind the orchid, and one hand free to take the picture. Hope that helps.

Warmest regards,
Ut Say
