Q. What kind of bird?

He (or she) spends a lot of time at the bird feeder on my back deck in Northwest Arkansas.

It's a House Finch (Carpodacus mexicanus).

I agree with the "House Finch" ID. They are also known as a "Purple Finch". They have about the prettiest song going, second in my books to the Cardinal.:)
