Maarten,
I somewhat agree with what you have said here. I have noticed that pics from digital cameras seem sharper. I really think the reason is because the scanned image is a copy and the digital camera image is the original. If you are very careful with your scanning and sharpening you will be able to get a very good result.

Chris,
I have to congratulate you. Your scanned image is as sharp as an original taken digital one. But you are right: careful scanning helps, as good gear and Velvia film :-)

In my experience pictures taken using a digicam are usually LESS sharp than pictures taken on good quality film. What makes them look sharper on a screen is that the screen resolution is a lot lower than the resolution of a scan so you see all the little imperfections in the scan a lot better.

It would depend on the scanner and what has been done to the image, I don't use USM on mine at all but most Dcams have built in sharpening routines. Alot of scans sen here are off prints, and if anything good film scans are so sharp I hit a little blur on it so you can see pimples on a perosn 100 yards away.

You should never be able to see the difference on a computer screen. The quality and resolution is so reduced for posting that they should always be very sharp.
If the scans were from a flat bed scanner that will produce terrible results.
I use a digital scanner and the images are 24mb at maximum resolution. Downscaling them for web posting can greatly deteriorate the image of done improperly. It should be done in steps using bilinier interploation rather than bicubic and sharpened after not before downsizing.
When making very large prints digital captures will interpolate a little better in enlargement than digital scans, but it should not be an issue going down.
I do see a different look sometimes between scans and captures but not in sharpness, rather an overall feel to the image, much like changing the type of film used. I can get any effect in photoshop and can take the same picture both in film and digital and get exactly the same final result.
