  Q. Moon photography through a telescope?

Asked by Karl Davies    (K=276) on 5/13/2003
I now have all the bits and just need to know what to do with them.

Once all attached, what sort of settings should I start with to get an idea of what I need to do to get the perfect pic....ie

1. Shutter speed?
2. Aperture?
3. Focusing on? as my other post stated. I have been told to focus to infinity. My S602Z does not have a infinity sign on the lens, so I am unsure where infinity is.

I have also been told to use Macro and Super Macro to make the image look larger is there anything else I should do when doing this.

Any help would be gratefully ripped from your hands... :)

Thanks

Karl

While I really cannot speak to shooting through a telescope, I am attaching an image of the moon I shot during the recent full lunar eclipse. (Thursday, May 15, 11:14pm)

I used:
Canon PowerShot G3
Teleconverter Lens (1.75x)
Tripod
Aperture: 3.0
Shutter: 1/15
Exposure: -2
Maximum Optical Zoom (4x)
Manual Focus to Infinity
I had the camera hooked up into my laptop and using the software supplied for remote control of the camera.

While not the best, it is using the digital camera, not film. It does show some detail. Hope this helps some. Not sure where to point you for astrophotography.
