Yes, I use to have that problem. I made a small "box" the size of my LCD screen that stuck out about 2" or so. I got some velcro tape and fixed the tape to wrap around my camera and fasten on the top and bottom of the "box". Make it so the tape does not obstruct your lens.
This holds the "box" firmly in place during bright sunny daytime photographing and allowed me to view the LCD screen.

John -- Ritz Camera and other retailers carry accessory hoods for LCD's ranging in size depending on the LCD. They sell for around $20 US and are removable, coming in silver and matte black finishes. I just bought one and found it easy to install and very handy. It also came with an optical glass cover that protects the LCD from scratches. The optical glass cover stays in place even when the hood is removed. They are made by a third party company and are generic so they work with most brands of cameras.

I just looked up the product name on the Ritzcamera.com web site.
The hood is called the Delkin eFilm Pop-Up Shade.
