  Q. Brightness & Tonal change with different software

Asked by P. Pun    (K=115) on 9/6/2006
Hi all,

I have been using Photoshop CS2 to do post-camera enhancement. I noticed that the same photo would appear differently when viewed with different softwares e.g. Photoshop & Microsoft Picture It. The difference is mainly in the brightness and tonal range -- even though this is done on the same computer and the same calibrated monitor. Is there any way I can fix this?

Hi Ho Pun,

First, I would recommend to trust Photoshop more than Microsoft-type of products. Photoshop follows closely the "color settings" embedded in the meta data of your digital pics. These color settings can be modified in Edit>Color Settings.
Hope this helps.
