  Q. Switzerland

Asked by CJ McKendry    (K=1388) on 3/19/2002
I'm in the initial steps of planning a trip to Switzerland, last week of May + the 1st week of June. Probably based in either Meiringen area, or Interlaken. We'll not have a car, but will have unlimited train/postal bus pass. Any info re: places to hit, those to miss, traveling tips, etc would be appreciated. Also, since my camera is digital, anyone know if I can depend on finding cyber cafes? Thanks!

We used an interesting tour company to plan our Swiss vacation that seems perfect for amateur photographers. The company name is untours (www.untours.com), and they set you up for 2 weeks in a lovely apartment (usually a duplex with a Swiss-national owner in the other unit), near a train station and from that point on you're totally independent. Can customize your visits to weather, your objective, etc with a local there to assist as needed. Worked out great for us, and was reasonable... well under $2000 per person for 2 weeks, including housing, r/t airfare, 2 week train pass (includes postal bus and intercity tram service). I'd be happy to pass on more info about our trip if anyone is interested.
