I'm not sure where to post this. Perhaps we might open an area for similar items. Anyway --
The Milwaukee Art Museum is presenting a really great photo exhibition this month (Dec., 2002). For more information go to: www.mam.org
This is from their newsletter:
Brandt and Weston: Two Geniuses of Photography ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our next Feature Exhibition, Brandt and Weston: Two Geniuses of Photography, opens December 13th! This exhibition traces the creative growth and stylistic changes of Bill Brandt and Edward Weston, presenting their distinctive and innovative visions.
Bill Brandt, a British master photographer, is known for inventing the trademark grainy gray British light evident in his style of photography. His portion of the exhibition covers a 50-year span of 155 vintage gelatin silver prints from the Bill Brandt Archive in London.
Edward Weston, cited as the quintessential American modernist photographer, is known for his pure form, minimalist style and elegant presentation of form. A survey of nearly 100 works group vintage prints from all phases of his five-decade career.
The salon-like setting of this exhibition provides a comfortable and contemplative space for people to view the exhibition and escape the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
