Doubling doesn't sound right to me, but then I don't use Rodinal. People over at photo net do: I'd post the link if it was allowed here but here is the discussion: (you can always head over there and search there, or google)

APX is shown on the Rodinal sheet at 7 minutes in 1:25. gareth harper , oct 08, 2005; 04:59 a.m. All published times are guidelines. When pushing a film a stop, some people increase their standard time by 20%, some as much as 50%. So it's impossible to give you a specific time. I would add that APX400 in Rodinal is maybe not the best combination for pushing. P C Headland Photo.net Patron, oct 08, 2005; 06:33 a.m. From my limited experience, it seems higher dilutions are preferred when trying to push film with Rodinal.
You can try the times listed here The times are for higher dilutions though.
Paul Chris Waller Photo.net Hero, oct 08, 2005; 02:06 p.m. APX 400 at 800 ASA, Rodinal, 1:25, 20 C, 10 minutes. Lex (perpendicularity consultant) Jenkins Photo.net Hero, oct 08, 2005; 06:40 p.m. Agfa publishes development times for its own films in its own developers in a PDF on their website.
If you study the data for APX 400 you'll see that it and Rodinal aren't well suited for each other, at least not when exposing the film at 400. Try shooting it at 200 or using another developer. Stuart Moxham , oct 09, 2005; 02:42 p.m. The New APX 400 time in rodinal 1:25 according to the box is 10min at 20degC when used at box speed that may well get you somewhere in the ball park. I just did a roll last night just to see how it would come and I quite like the results. I shot with my Canonette and just set it at 400 and shot away. I was shooting in the market square trying some street photography which is rather a new thing for me, I was hoping for real dark black shadows but they actually had more detail than I expected.
