  Q. 2 bath developper

Asked by Matthieu Ducamp    (K=0) on 5/11/2005
Hello,

I would like to try a 2 bath developper.
Can someone give me any tips about using it?
I plan to use for bath A :
Metol and Sodium sulphite
and for bath B Sodium metaborate.

Also I read on the forum that diaphine has 2 bath.
Is it of the same time as the one I plan to make ?

Cheers,
MAtthieu

The developer you describe looks a lot like the formula for divided D-23. Times are tricky with this developer because unlike some other two bath developers, notably Diafine, some development takes place in bath "A" and completes in bath "B." Naturally, each film will be different and it will take some experimentation to get your times nailed. Personally, I don't care much for two bath developers except for Diafine. I get very good results with XTOL, D-76, or Rodinal and I figure that if it's not broken, I won't bother trying to fix it.
