  Q. Tri-X 400

Asked by John Myers    (K=4308) on 7/9/2004
i am going to be trying this film at asa 1600. what would be the best developer to bring out the midtones while keeping the highlights at bay? would d-76 1:3 dilute/static work well with this film at 1600? i would like a low-key image while still keeping a decent midtone range. all i have is d-76 right now, but i'm open to other options. thanks.

Diafine! I shoot Tri-X at 1250 all the time and develop it in Diafine. It holds the highlights very well with good shadows and little grain.

Agreed. I shoot Tri-X at 1600 and use Diafine. It'll come out beautifully.
