  Q. Kodak High Speed Infrared in Ilford Ilfosol

Asked by Andy Jones    (K=536) on 9/10/2002
Anyone developed Kodak HIE in Ilfosol? What development time did you use, and how were the results? Any advice much appreciated.

Hi Andy,

Not sure if this is helpful or not, but you might like to look at www.digitaltruth.com where they have the biggest chart of films and developers I've ever seen. Kodak's HSIE is not listed with Ilfosol, though many other developers are listed. Perhaps this means Ilfosol is not suitable. I've no experience of using HSIE myself, so can't help you other than the above link.

Chris.

Well, this isn't specific to your question either, but I though I might add it as well for those who havent developed HIE (not that I've done it much either). FWIW, Be VERY gentle with your agitation, as you'll get overdevelopment along the sprocket holes.

My friend, Jason Roehner, shot and developed two rolls of Kodak HIE a few months ago, and they were developed with D-76, non-diluted, for 11 minutes at about 68 degrees. The negatives were a little thick, which may have been because of metering errors, but I'm not sure if the developing should be altered next time or not. I hope this helps a little, and I suppose we'll see how the next roll of HIE comes out in a couple weeks...
