  Q. Mamiya RB67 65mm lens

Asked by John Cole    (K=-35) on 3/25/2003
I recently bought a second-hand Mamiya RB67 Pro SD with an additional lens, the Mamiya-Sekor KL 65mm f4. I have no manual or operating instructions for the lens and would appreciate some help. In particular, I want to understand how to operate the mirror lockup function. I also want to know the use of the M and X choices on the sliding button, the screw hole to the right of it and the alignment markings on the rear ring. Any assistance would be gratefully received.

I just found this site, it really looks great. I'm also new to medium format, just purchasing a used RB67 Pro S.

The M and X switch on the lens is the synch for flash selection. It will probably just stay on X. M is for bulb flash, something I can't remember the last time I witnessed.

The Mirror Lock up is a little more complicated. You can download manuals for the RB67 and some of the lenses at the following link:

There are also some great discussions in the forum areas there.

I'm looking forward to spending time here. Hopefully, I can improve my techniques, and help with some others.

You can also go to www.mamiya.com for PDF versions of manuals. If the RB's like the RZ, you need to attach a cable release to the lens. Then the shutter release lifts the mirror; triggering the cable release trips the shutter.
