  Q. Printing out school pictures

Asked by john Cambece    (K=188) on 5/12/2006
Is it wrong to print my own school pictures. I paid for the first set, then i made wallets for everyone i knew, is that wrong? I know its stealing someones work, but its not like im making money off it it, i just dont want to pay $50 for one sheet.

Is it illegal? Yes. Is it a breach of copyright? Yes. Is it wrong? That depends on your ethical views. Coming from the perspective that this is how this person survives and makes a living, I would almost equate it to stealing food from a small family grocery store... it's how they make a living to survive.

hi John, I have to agree with Chris. Although there's no money in it for you, you're still robbing the photographer of at least a part of his revenues, and so it would be considered stealing. If I were the photographer, I would've been rather pissed off if I'd find out - wouldn't you be?

Intersting issue, though. It's very tempting, and I'm sure it happens more often than not.

Cheers,

Hugo
