  Q. UW cameras

Asked by Linda White    (K=0) on 12/1/2003
I am a airly good amateur photographer on land w/ both film and digital. I have taken some uw pix about 4 years ago. I am starting to dive more now and want to get a good all round camera under $700.00. I am not sure I want to go digital or film. I am looking strongly at a Aquapix. Any suggestions? Several people have suggested to go digital. Thanks.Linda K. White

Digital is not a bad idea, your not limited to underwater, and you can see what your results are on your historgram.

The downside of digital, is lack of direct TTL strobe, (you can use an Ikelite DS dtrobe with a TTL sensor) and the shutter lag on the mall digital point and shoots.

Do you already have a digital camera? If so, I would recommend you simply buy a housing for it. Most digital cameras now have housings available.

Go here to check out the housing available for any camera you may want:

Remember, to get good underwater shots, you will really need to invest in a decent strobe and arm system as well. Ikelie DS50 is a good small strobe, as well as Sea&Sea's digital version.

Good luck to you!
