  Q. Infra Red Konica 750
James McGinnis
Asked by James McGinnis    (K=6045) on 5/19/2005
I'm going to play around with some IR film in my MF camera. I have Konica IR 750 but my understanding is that the 750 is not an ISO rating. It's an expression of the film's sensitivity to light waves in the 750 nanometer range. So...the question...how do I rate this film? ISO 100? ISO 200? Or, it that part of the appeal...you can rate it at whatever you want to acheive different results??

I've shot a few rolls of this in my Rapid Omega. I usually use a red #25 filter and then rate the film at ISO 6 using a handheld light meter. (That's not a typo. I do mean ISO 6.) If you're using TTL metering then setting the ISO to 50 is probably a good starting point. You can check out some of my images below to get an idea of what to expect to see if you use the red #25 filter.

I have not tried it with a Hoya R72 or opaque filter, but obviously the effective ISO would be even lower with them. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Eric!

I'm shooting with a Mamiya RB67. I have the #25 Filter so I guess I'll meter at 6. Wow...that even feels weird to type!!

Thanks for the input!
