  Q. Wedding reception lighting

Asked by Simba Munhu    (K=82) on 3/31/2006
What would be the best way to give lighting at a wedding recepetion with high black ceilings. I got a lot of flash over-exposure using a Nikon D70, SB800 and a SC17 cord. I held the flash high above me a little to the side, some were very nicely exposed but others very bad. Does anyone out there have extensive experience with a Quantum Qflash ? would it have worked better here ? ( dark, high ceilings ? )

I do alot of weddings I use a quantum Q flash on camera and another on tripod with FreeXwires, Sometimes even two off camera lights. Get them as high as you can for the reception both on one side of the building so your not shooting into light the whole time.

thanks for you advice Weston. I will certainly look into this If you take a look at my photos on the following link- you will see mostly the nice ones I got using an SB800 held up high above my head. Even with this, I had far too many burned ones.
