Another shot of Redang Island... really a paradise on earth ! BUT, how long will it remain tat way ? Will my children n grandchildren hav the chance to share its beauty ?
Yea... I do know abt all these. The main reason of building the airport is definitely to encourage more ppl to get to the island, in a faster n easier way. The construction will, without doubt, cause lots of environmental problems especially erosion n siltation. And too much of siltation is disastrous to those coral reefs n seagrasses. When coral reefs are gone, having the airport will not mean anything at all. I believe most tourists go there to enjoy the natural beauty of the island, and not to see how "developed" the island is. The problem with we Malaysians is that we don't think far. We don't even bother if the benefit is short-termed. How shallow ! One thing for sure... the EIA report for the construction is incomplete and full of "covered-up things".
There is a new build airport in the island, news yesterday. I guess this is the reason why you post this photo today. Well, if you remember our trip to perhentian island. YOu know tourism is not the only reasons contribute to polution.
