Congratulations on your new camera too! A fine camera if I may say so myself! lol Ok, that makes sense... you used a zoom lens for this shot. I saw you listed the kit lens so thought you were extra sneaky getting close to the bird. At any rate, I love the result and believe it or not, I had just started looking at this lens seriously as of yesterday. I want to get something I can get closer with to the dogs, especially when Sugar is racing in the dog trials. I have to stand too close to the track with the lens I have now and I think it is distracting to the dogs. You are getting some tremendous results with this lens and I think you've just convinced me that this should be my next purchase.
If you haven't already, I would strongly recommend you get the 50mm f/1.8 (nifty-fifty) lens... it has superior quality and is one of the cheapest lenses availabe (often compared to the pro-quality L-lenses.
Keep up the good work! I know you are loving your new camera like I am. Think we were both long overdue for a good camera. :)

Ha Brigitte! Thanks so much! I did get a Canon Rebel XT and used my 75/300 to get this little one! I love my canon and can't wait to get another lens for it! Congrats for getting yourself a canon!

Lovely shot, Pamela. DOF and composition is wonderful. And you must've been able to get close to the bird to get such detail and sharpness. That's one thing I miss about Texas, those brilliantly colored Red Cardinals. He looks a tad hot... hope you have a water fountain in your yard.
Did you get a new Canon Digital Rebel like I recently did?
