About Just chasing my Redbone Coon Hound Dog around the house tring to get him to set still... Yah, Right!

I did use a Metz Handle Flash, which he just loved as well... lol ... Very vintage, but very bright, as I shot at night with only one 60 watt bulb burning several feet away...

My 1st attempt using the Metz Handle Flash... I thought it worked very well... Capture was played with in PS regarding color, contrast, brightness and grain added for effect...

Thank you for stopping by,

Martin

Tell me about destructive!! I have three young greyhounds who are the most destructive dogs I have every owned (I have 33 dogs at the moment) Everyone thinks that greyhounds are these elegant noble dogs but it is all a big facade, they are wicked!!!!;-)

Sylvia,

Thank you so very much my friend... Yes, this is 1 of most prettiest dogs I have ever seen, but the most destructive as well... Ahhhh!

Most people think of a coonhound as being very laid back and sleeping, but they are not...

Stephen,

I love the flash. It's a Metz 45 CT-5 antique, which I found on eBay. It went for around $500.00 - $600.00 new 20 years ago. I paid $200.00 for it and it is in mint condition. It looks to have been used 4, or 5 times...

The only thing that was a waste was the factory battery cluster, which I replaced with a brand new set of NiCad’s from Adorama camera for $59.00... It also came with an AA battery holder frame for non rechargeable batteries in case of an emergency...

I do have a couple of Vivitar hot shoe mount thyristors, but they don't compare to a handle flash by any means. The handle flash is great for candid’s and you could even use one in a pinch for studio shots with an umbrella.

Although in the studio I would prefer some elinchrom 400BX heads, which I will be buying in the near future. I had a set of Norman hot lights, that I paid $600.00 for the complete set, with umbrellas, stands ect. I was so upset regarding their performance I gave them away. Free of Charge!

I looked up the newest Metz and it goes for $369.95 @ Adorama. I would think this would work great for Weddings and such, but not serious studio work. Speed lights? I have no use for them... But they are better than nothing in a tight situation and very portable...

I hope I answered your question. I truly love natural light, but we all know we don't live in a perfect world, so sometimes I’m forced to use a supplement lighting source...

Great shot. Love the eyes. How do you like that flash? This was from a while ago. Is that the only flash you have? Nice capture.

Congrats!

I think he's sad cuz you BEAT him all the time! LOL!! Just kidding, he is really a great model! I don't think the background needs to be cloned out at all. Looks like he is sitting on the couch? This is a good capture!

Susie,

I ment to write "I wish", not "I with"... lol

Also, I forgot to answer your question about the sad look. Yes this is his happy, sad, hurt, feeling great and pissed off look. Never changes!

You can tell what is going on in his mind by his body language very well though...

Sam III,

Thank you my friend. I thought getting the good ol' hound would be nice and lazy. Wrong, this is the most high strung dog I have ever seen.

He is always moving, trying to get on me, or run from me. Heck he even hunts me like an animal. Drives me nuts, but he is so very good looking and loving... That has saved his life more than once. Especially when he ate the couch and my chair!

Thanks again,

Marty

Very nice lighting Martin...I think you've got the technique down. This is a great doggy portrait. Do they have anything but a "sad look"? :) He's a handsome boy.
