Very good portrait, Himadra! Great title & about. You've a good eye to spot these interesting facial features. This shot is well composed and exposed...good detail in the shadows and the amount of light and dark areas is pleasing to view...I suppose there is some correct ratio here.
Best regards,
Kes

thanks douglas for putting in so much thought, effort and time. Yes i like this version .... i guess i will give him a print out of this one :)

I think i opened the aperture to 2.0, i cant seem to have played with the shutter speed cause the only speed my nikon allows is 1/125 (due to my shear laziness of procuring appropriate batteries)
it was shot after sunset and hence the lighting is soft. The best part abt this man apart from his cool hairstyle is his generosity. He offered me free peanuts :)

Thanks once again

thaks martin .... yes the dof is very shallow ... opened the aperture to 2.0 .... its a fixed 35mm lens .... the focus is on his eye

Dear Himadri,

This is a great portrait for sure and his occupation is somewhat very humble indeed and therefore why don't we reward him with an even more distinguished look in a perfect square format in B&W also sacrificing just a bit of the hair which you like so much but which is not his central features.

There is just something about 'his' right eye that is in much better focus that caught my eye. Hope you like the attached which I believe is even more dramatic and composed better imho which could even pass for a 6 x 6 Medium Format image if I didn't know that used a 35mm.

Thanks for sharing and Best of Regards!

P.S. ... I think your lense opening was much greater than f2.8 which is quite shallow so I think you are confusing that with the 'speed' of the lense instead aperture because the overall clarity is quite good.

Rework of 'Peanut Man'

since deleted   {K:29} 10/19/2005
Great portrait, Himadri. A very carefullly composed shot, I would guess, and all the better for it. I am confused by the defocused moustache hair nearest the camera, is the depth of field on this lens really this shallow?
