Great shot!!! I think you should be the official photographer of PAris, George. I am amased by the high ISO setting and the little noise. Great expermentation... -- Kind regards, Rafael

Hi George,

on one hand, the image is great as you did that handheld from a moving boat! =)

on the other hand, I guess the image would even look better if it wasn't that kind of underexposed.

anyway, nice play of light my friend.

best wishes,
Thilo

Thanks, Linda, for the nice comments. About the noise: I took this little cruise especially to try out the high ISO setting. Some of the pictures at the same settings were a lot "noisier" than others. In general, I found that plain flat surfaces are problematic. An image like this--just a lot of small detail--tends to disguise the noise. I'll post one or two more of buildings where the noise levels were pretty high and needed smoothing. I've still got a lot to learn--and I'm loving it! We should start a 20D Club! ;-) --g

OMG this is awesome George, 3200, the clarity is incredible and handheld too...oh a man after my own heart, oops the tripod just went over the balcony, hahahaha....ok not!! What a beautiful image...no noise? You know I have been getting some noise in some of my images. Not too much but maybe a normal amount I don't know can you tell me other factors that contribute to noise maybe I need to check some other parameters. I love this George it's meticulously taken, the lines are perfect, the colors and illumination are beautiful, and the composition is lovely, very very well done...:):)Linda

splendid coloured facade of this building; the details you give about the shutter speed is impressive considering the extremely moving conditions on the bateaux
