I agree regarding the softness of the image. Based on the info you provided of shutter & f/stop & if shot handheld that pretty much explains the result. Under this scenario I'd lower the DOF & that in turn should raise the shutter speed just enough to handhold for a sharper image or other option is bracing yourself on a wall or leaning your arms somewhere to stabilize the camera. Secondly if I may suggest Anthony a diffused flash would put some catchlight in the eyes. Overall a nice shot of friends, thanks much for the comment to my image, regards.
thanks jon again for your comments. i actually look foward to people like you commenting on my shot. it is a bit unsharp but i tried sharpening it and it didnt come out the way i wanted it..i will try again. thanks much jon.
Good pose - interestingly, a shot like this seems to be equally effective with the eyes lined up AND with them at different levels. The photograph seems a bit unsharp (although it's late and my contact lenses are driving me crazy, so perhaps the fault is me, not your focussing :-]) and I think you could do something more interesting with the cropping here.
