About This is a picture I took last year in Chicago with my youth group, but it is one of my favourite pictures that I've taken -I am just a novice, however :o) -.

Unforturnately, it was only taken at 2.0 Megapixels on a digital camera, but it was all I had access to at the time. I did some slight adjustments in PS, but not very much.

I have a film camera now (Pentax ME Super), and I look forward to submitting more photographs in the future, but please let me know what you think of this image.

very soft light contributes to the dreamy atmosphere of the image.... it's perfectly balanced. I can see why you like it so much.

Like the way the quest for knowledge has brought her into the light :-) . Feels very gentle.

Thank you very much Ian (and all of the others that have commented), I really appreciate all of the support found here. I really look forward to submitting more images in the future. I've just about used up my first roll of film on my ME Super (Kodak MAX Versatility, 400 colour film), and I can't wait to get it developed. Right now I'm mostly just guessing at f-stops and exposure settings (leaving it on 'Auto' mostly, until I learn how to set it more on my own), but I'm hopefull that many of them should still turn out well. Thank you again, Michael.

Hi Michael, this has so much serenity and good karma, she is sitting in a way you only seem to see students do! I like how she has chosen the natural spotlight to illuminate her work and the implication that is more uplifting than slaving under a lamp. You will love the ME Super, one of the best ever, recommend get another body off eBay as back up and to run maybe a faster film through for when you need it. Also find a good repairman in your area. A great decision to learn the ropes with a manual film camera, as you participate on here don't get phased by the odd shot which fails to hit the spot, there will be many and it doesn't make them bad. Shoot for you, then if others like it that's great. You clearly have the motivation and the eye so, with a great camera, and maybe access to a film/slide scanner and a bit of software skill, we should see interesting results. Thanks so much for your insightful comment too, appreciated. Cheers, Ian

Wow- this is incredible! Welcome to Usefilm- you'll love it here! The lighting in your picture is wonderful- I love how it outlines her hair and sets her apart from the rest of the room even though it is such soft focus! Absolutely fantastic!

Thank you for the comment! I have only been a member for about 24 hours and have submitted only one picture, but I am already enjoying the very welcoming atmosphere at this website very much, and I'm glad to hear that others have enjoyed seeing somethingn that I've done.

Thanks a lot :). I was really impressed with how it turned out, and I loved the way the light filled the picture and coloured everything. And as for my "model" (a friend of mine) I was lucky to catch her at the moment I did, as she tends to be very self-concious when getting her picture taken :). Thanks for your review.

Howerver you took it, you ended up with a great shot....I can feel the warmth of the light, and I really like the way it is reflected on to her face...your model looks totally oblivious to you taking the shot.
Liz
