Hi Paula,
This image reminds me of the respiratory system.
To me the trunk is like the trachea, then you have the mayor bifurcations, the bronchial tree and the leaves can be the alveoli.
This image also reminds me of a book that I read when I was a child. The title is The Little Prince by Antonie de Saint- Exupery.
Awesome shot.

This is not an old tree its in animal kingdom at disney world ..its just a funny tree that has the top shaped like it roots ..
