About That's a capture of an old man whom I met at the Maridani Mosque, which is one of the ancient mosques in Cairo.

I liked the lighting and shadows on his face, do you think it's little bit dark?

Camera settings: 1/80 sec - f/16 - ISO 200 - Focal Length 200.

Very good low key tonality, the lighting works for what I would think was your desired effect..

I think this one has a lot of heavy contrast and takes some details away... Definitely an "emotive" type shot.

The shadows makes the man anonymous--kind of like a symbol of the wisdom and experience of a man who has seen life go by. It s a nice shot, and captures a 'type' of character that is famailar in Cairo and all traditional societies..

Great photo with metalic expression, I think it is the best to show from us, finding and hunting like this photo is not easy at all!
especially with people aren't used to.
I feel he is a little evil because there are no eyes shown here.

Your Friend,
Kareem

Khaled, another impressive b/w from you! I did at first think it was a little dark, as others have said, but on the other hand I really like the strong contrast especially with his white beard and skarf. I guess you could only have brought some light into his eyes by changing the angle - but the angle you have chosen is just great.

I think that the darkness make the shot more interesting. It adds mystery to what is seen. Really powerful and dramatic portrait.

In this case I think the dramatic aspects of the portrait justifies the heavy shadow, Khaled!

Great B&W portrait!!! Excellent composition!! I like it a lot and as I've stated before: I'm not 'into' portraits... The strong shadows give him/the portrait something mysterious, it's all about the composition now and not about 'what is he thinking/looking at.. etc.. Well captured!!

Great portrait Khaled , I like it as it is ,
dark lighting here add a lot of mystrey to the man's face that make it hard to judge him !
& that is a wonderful choice IMHO :)

I quite like the lighting on his face, the shadows add a little mystery to the image. It may have been improved a little by him looking up a little, light would then have reached his eyes though with that strong light he would have been squinting I'm sure. It's a good picture whatever.

Nour El Refai Nour El Refai   {K:12481} 3/18/2005
Mystical as it is, there is a minimal life in it, the more you show details on his face, the more life you feel in the image

Enas Moussa   {K:7470} 3/18/2005
its very nice ya khaled .. and what i feel that its not a matter of light more than the angle itself .. y3ny if u took just one step to the left u'd have got the right light on his face and some of his features would show up alittle.. coz from the place u r standing in the shade of his eye brows and nose is being too long.. thats how i feel and i may be wrong for sure..
best regards dear.

Beautiful portrait Khaled, I agree with you that it's dark, I think it would be nice if at least his eyes are seen, and I may be wrong of course.
