I thought of the personal qualities of a human. The rose is a symbol for the love and for the beauty. But it is transitory. What remains is the true person.

this is a very goos still life, disturbing a bit is the red cast of some part on the left of the vase which do not fit well with BW mood of whole shot

the kind of dreamy, poetic image as I like. You've very beautifull vase for this kind of shots. Good use of light. For the composition - I'ld prefare to have full shadow of the vase in the picture - maybe arranging the light the way to make it smaller.
