You are completely right. This fellow stretched as I clicked the shot and went just out of focus. It was a little fuzzy on the print and even more noticeable on the uploaded image. The composition is definately what I thought worked about the shot.

I like the composition and the tones are fine, but the sand in the upper right looks sharper than your subject, the seal (especially from the head to flippers).
