I do not understand why you have left the sky so gray -- it appears blurred and ominous --contradicts the bright sunlight on the grass and distant trees -- a bit confusing to the unconscious mind.

Nice mood but the light really kills it for me. My eye keeps going straight to that bright green grass which really detracts from the subject. The forground is very dark too. I think the subject matter here has a lot of potential and with some careful dodging and burning etc it could be much improved. You may consider turning this into a sepia tone to even out the mix of colours that I find do not blend well. Hope you find my critique constructive. I too have this thing for the backs of people!!

Mi sembra fantastica e non mi disturba il verde così carico. Le favole sono a volte in colori tenui ma a volte in colori molto vivi. Quello che non mi convince è il cielo in questa tua foto. Buonanotte Cecilia

Lena, congratulations on being a featured critique. Your use of the path to lead the viewer to the couple is good. The Arch is located in St. Louis. It was completed on October 28, 1965, is built of stainless steel and stands about 630 feet. Visitors can actually ride to the top and get a fantastic view of St. Louis. It is truly a beautiful structure. Mike

Dear Lena, Each of the first love pictures is better than the others. I know that this is not the answer you want, but because they are so equally splendid, I cannot distinguish them. This is what happens when you are the best in your business of photography.
On this specific picture, if I were the artist, I would improve the sky and generally the upper part of the picture. I would also crop it more, in order to bring out more the main subject, which is the children. I realize that you put in a blur frame, but it appears to be uneven or unequally distributed and it may be confusing to some viewers. If you really want to put in a blur frame then I would apply an oval for a transition boundary and a strong, very definitive blur beyond that boundary.
Now, to your question about the filters for the sky at the Carmel Mission. I did not use filters, I used a totally new sky. The original sky was blank and unusable. I will email you my original picture, so you can see how I transformed it. Best wishes, Alex

Elena, I'm "in love" with your First-Love series! They are all so sweet and gorgeous!! This one is adorable too, the mood and the strong feeling. But I find them too much center placed, and I don't really like the gray blur or what it is in the sky. Besides that I think it's fantastic!
