About When I photographed this bird 3 weeks ago I thought that there was no way it could live with such a grievous injury to it's upper beak for there would be no way it could eat. I saw it again yesterday, so it is surviving. It either has a mate that is feeding it or it is living on frogs, etc. I would guess that "if" the beak grows back (which there is a chance of) it would take at least a year. I wish it luck.
