I love this! I love cat and animal shots so this is great. Love the shading on it.

i love cats, and i kind of like how dark it is. dramatic lighting for a dramatic subject.

James,

One thing nice about PS is you can always undo what you did, have fun with it and just play around, thats how I learned.

Chris,

Thanks. I'm still getting this photoshop figured out. I'm also trying to develop an eye for lighting and shadows. I know that sounds odd but shadows tend to either be or not be in my mind. I'm trying to "see" a picture not so much with a "shadow versus no shadow" mind but more of a "more shadow or less shadow" approach. I'm also trying to do it with colors and frankly, I find that easier.

Thanks for your help. I do prefer your version.

James

James,

The composition of the image is good but I do find fault with a couple of issues. First is the overall image is too dark, second I think there is too much contrast. Open up the image in Ps and remove some of the contrast then try and lighten it up a bit. Also try to level out the difference between the light and dark areas, you can keep the dark area but there should be a smoother transition.

I am attaching the fix I did, it could be betterif worked on the larger image.

Ah James. That look.. "why are you bothering me, just feed me" :-))
Excellent expression in this image. And good exposition in difficult light conditions. It maybe could have been a bit sharper.
Congratulations.

I'm a sucker for cats. :) I just want to reach out and scratch kitty behind the ears.

I might have composed this a bit more off-center, but that's just my taste, I don't particularly care for centered subjects.
