This 640-pixel size limit is ridiculous. I have posted it at a slightly larger size here: http://iocundum.hypermart.net/spes_small.jpg (which is itself only 66% the original poster size).
\"Spes Glacialis\" means \"glacial hope.\" The title originates from the crooked, blank stare of the eyes. And yes, I know that the statue looks like its some mutant, diploid, messed-up baby. Well, it is. That\'s why I took the picture.
METHOD I took the picture while visiting some friends in the Holy See. After I removed the dust and scratches, I saturated and lightened the originally dim photo. After that, I was going to make it into a \"dark\" piece by overlaying rust over the statue\'s face, but I decided to scrap that idea; it\'s hackneyed. After I came to that decision, I transplanted a pair of eyes onto the image, later adding the green hue.
Below the title is written: \"The merry face of spring turns toward the world.\" [from Carmina Burana] [Nam sub axe scribilis est] ^^^
You did a masterful job with this - and thank you for explaining the process. :) It made me think of Chuckey, even though it's not threatening ... it's creepy, but also fascinating.
