About I put the marbles in a glass pie plate that was on top of a fluorescent light sorce. My camera
only steps down to an f 8 which is a real bummer.

Yet another excellent creative shot. Like the colours.

The reason your camera only stops down to f8 is that in 35mm terms it is equal to say f32 due to its much smaller sensor and diffraction by then is already blurring the image; so, any further stopping down would be worse. My E10 works the same way with a max of f11 and a sweet spot at about f5.6. My D60 for most lenses only allows f22 or f32. A macro lens will usually allow more say f45. So really they suffer the same limitations. It is just not obvious. There's an excellent site for info about Olympus cameras www.wrotniak.net Try www.photozone.de and www.photo.net for lots of camera info. HTH
