I know u could probably not have done this in another way, but had u been closer and down on your knees taking it it would have emphasized the dog, man and the mountains in a fantastic way:-)

Nice shot Andy, my only suggestion since you asked, is get your subject out of the middle of the frame, think rule of thirds. I would have put the subject in the lower left hand quadrant, giving him space to the right. It would have also open up the mountains.
Color, exposure, DOF are very good.
