nice shot michael, altho i find the foreground just a tad dark. surprised they even allow photos of the white house these days, from any distance.

You can walk right up to the front gate, and there is a big lawn. With a moderate telephoto lens, say 100 mm you can get this shot.
You have to wait to position yourself close to the gate and shoot through the spaces.
