About I really like the wide angle effect, but i feel the light on the left draws the eye out of the picture. Do you agree? Anyone know of anyway to take it out with photoshop?

Hi Miranda,

Although I think the composition is a bit symmetric, making it more static than absolutely necessary, I do agree the wide angle is very well used, as it creates a very strong perspective, emphasising the sheer height of the buildings.

I don't think the highlight on the left is really distracting, as it also creates the feel of a hot, almost suffocating summer day in HK.

If you really want to take it out, patching the area with a bit of the column above the highlight and wrapping it over the reflection, using feathering, various layer modes to match the colour, and probably a bit of cloning in the sky would be my suggestion. Not easy, and I don't think it'll be an improvement - come to think of it, the longer I look at your photo, and the harder I try to visualise the same photo without the flare, the more I think you should leave it as is...

Cheers,

hugo
