About The streets of Barcelona again, this time a scan from a negative (the quality is not very good, I'm bying a new scanner next week). I like the contrast here between the well-dressed man and the graffity environment.

I can understand what it is like working with a horrible scanner....

I like the compo. here and the angle you shot this from. I like the fact that the man is looking at the graffiti in dissatisfaction. Nice capture...

Hi Thilo,
My thinking is much the same as a lot of the other comments this time. The very first thing I thought, before I read the comments was here is a shot that shows a nice contrast between a conservative man and an anarchistic background. It definitely works in that respect. There is some mention of lack of quality... It doesn't seem too bad to me. Maybe because I think it is more of a story image than a shot that strives for perfection in the technical details of the image.

Very nice street capture Thilo, I like the contradiction between the very modern looking man and the ancient street, the organization of his cloths and the street mess, it has a very nice point in it which you managed to present in a very nice way, very well done,
Regards,

Bad scan or not, I always like your work. I was scanning images on the front page and didn't see your name, just the image caught my eye, then I saw your name and said to myself "no wonder it caught my eye" you know I like all of your work. What really stood out to me was the POWERFUL diagonal line and the placement of the man in the image. A very strong composition my dear, and I like the contrast that you mention in your about as well. For some reason graffite always grabs me. Great work again Thilo!! Hugs!!

TB -

Don't misunderstand. Quality aside this is a good post, glad you loaded it actually. And I'd give it a nice 5.

Hi Michael,

thanks for your honest words - I really appreciate that and it assures me that it was questionable to makes this upload at all due to quality concerns. If my new scanner is doing well, I think about a second upload of this one.

Your idea with the perspective is an interesting one. You may be right here. In this case, I was glad to get a shot at all, as this picture is one of those where you only have half a second to make it or lose it.

Take care,
Thilo

The quality is indeed pretty questionable, but the composition, color, and timng is really well done. Contrast the street art with the well dressed man.

Another thought to experiement with is getting lower on the street - you are shooting down on the subject, which is great in this instance since it will make the man smaller and less substantial in relationship to the graffitti.

If you were to get low on your knees and shoot up, there would the the drama of the well dressed man as fuller and maybe equals.
