This was taken just outside Lake Powell at a place reffered to as corkscrew canyon. It is located on the Indian reservation and you must pay a guide to take you there.
As to how I got them...I metered the wall with a handhelp meter, setup the tripod, put the camera on bulb at f/11 and opened the shutter. That's all there is to it.

Yes those were the actual colors. It was pretty dark as it was shot inside of a slot canyon, almost a cave. The colors changed drastically throughout the day from deep blue light to intense ambers.

wow, such a mystical shot. I'm crazy about the colors! no place on earth can be that artistically drenched in colors, right? a +5 minute exposure? Was this shot in pitchblack darkness? A photo I could look at for minutes, and its technically interesting too. Well done :-)
